How to Remesh 3D Models with AI Retopology

Last updated: July 2026 3 min read

Why Retopologize Neural4D Models?

3D models generated natively within Neural4D boast exceptionally high face counts to ensure top-tier quality and intricate geometric details. However, using these dense meshes directly in real-time applications can be heavy on performance.

Neural4D's AI Retopo is built specifically to solve this challenge. It allows you to drastically lower the face count of your original high-poly assets, intelligently preserving the core silhouette and optimizing the topology for normal map baking, so you can maintain excellent visual quality in real-time engines.

Core Technical Capabilities

Feature Description
Intelligent Edge Flow The AI natively predicts anatomical edge flow. While the output is a high-density triangular mesh, it guarantees logical loops and deformation-friendly structures.
Absolute Count Control Dial in your exact polygon requirements. Neural4D supports customized target face counts ranging from 500 to 150,000 to match any performance budget.
Micro-Detail Preservation Our algorithm preserves high-frequency micro-details, ensuring normal maps bake flawlessly onto the rougher base shape.
Export Formats Seamlessly export the retopologized mesh to 6 universal formats (.FBX, .GLB, .OBJ, .USDZ, .STL, and .BLEND).
Important Note: The AI Retopo engine is currently designed exclusively for assets generated within the Neural4D ecosystem. Uploading external or third-party meshes is not supported at this time.

Step 1: Access Retopo & Select Asset

Navigate to the AI Retopo interface in Neural4D Studio, then select a 3D asset that you have previously generated from your library.
